After over 15 years of working as a biomedical engineer, I decided to follow my true calling: supporting working moms like myself. It wasn’t an easy decision, but it was the right one.

Listen to the full episode here.

This journey has had its challenges and rewards, and I want to share the lessons I’ve learned along the way.

The Challenges I Faced:

🌱 Lack of Understanding

One of the toughest parts of this transition has been the lack of understanding from those closest to me. My career as an engineer was well-respected, but when I explained my new venture—coaching and embodiment for working moms—there were often confused looks. It was hard not feeling “understood,” especially when this shift came from a place of deep personal growth.

🌱 Honest Conversations

Making the leap to entrepreneurship required tough conversations with my partner. We had to openly discuss our finances, our future, and what this transition would mean for our family. While these discussions weren’t always easy, they ultimately strengthened our relationship and his trust in my ability to make this work.

🌱 Self-Doubt

Like many of us, I’ve faced imposter syndrome. The voice inside that says, “Who am I to do this?” or “Maybe I should go back to what I know.” These doubts are constant companions on the path of change and entrepreneurship, but they’re a part of the process.

The Support Systems That Helped:

🌟 My Community

I found incredible support by connecting with other entrepreneurs who truly understood the ups and downs of this journey. The Worthy and Well community, in particular, has been an ongoing source of motivation and encouragement. Surrounding myself with like-minded people has been a game-changer.

🌟 Embodiment Practices

When self-doubt creeps in, I turn to embodiment practices. These have become my anchor during this storm of change, helping me stay grounded, calm, and connected to my body. It’s not about avoiding the tough feelings but understanding where they’re coming from and using them as a tool for growth.

🌟 Learning About My Nervous System

Understanding my nervous system was a revelation. Change can feel unsafe to our bodies, and as a working mom, it often feels like we’re juggling more than we can handle. Knowing how to regulate my nervous system has allowed me to stay grounded, even during stressful moments, and move forward with more confidence.

The Rewards of Aligning With My Purpose:

✨ Inner Peace

Despite the challenges, I feel more at peace than ever. I know in my heart that I’m on the right path. Yes, the road is rocky, but it’s aligned with my purpose, and that gives me the strength to keep moving forward.

✨ Work That Energizes

I no longer feel drained or resentful of my work. I wake up each day excited about what I’m building. This work—helping other working moms find fulfillment, balance, and ease—truly energizes me. It’s not just a career; it’s my passion.

✨ Presence With My Family

The most rewarding part of this journey is how it’s impacted my family. Because I’m aligned with my purpose, I’m a more present, calm, and engaged mom. I now have the energy to truly connect with my kids and be there for the moments that matter.

✨ Living on My Terms

One of the reasons I left my 9-to-5 was to gain more control over my time. Entrepreneurship has given me that autonomy. I’m able to structure my day around my family, my work, and my well-being, which has boosted my productivity, creativity, and sense of balance.

✨ Finding My True Self

Motherhood and my old career had consumed my identity for so long, I had forgotten who I was outside of those roles. Now, I feel more connected to my authentic self than ever before. I’m living a life aligned with my values, and I’m excited about what I’m building for the future.

✨ Transformation From Within

The most profound changes have been internal. I see the world differently, I approach my work with more clarity, I engage with my family with greater presence, and I feel a deep sense of pride in who I am becoming.

This journey is ongoing, and I’m excited to see where it leads. If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of your next step, I want you to know that you’re not alone. You have the power to design a life that aligns with your true purpose.

If you’re a working mom looking for more fulfillment, more balance, and more of you in your life, I encourage you to explore what lights you up. The path might be challenging, but the rewards of aligning with your purpose are immeasurable.

With love,

Emily
